Install SQL Server 2017 Express localdbonly and run
from the command prompt sqllocaldb start MSSQLLocalDB
Trying to start as
Procedure entry point BCryptKeyDerivation was not found in the dynamic link library bcrypt.dll."
And it fails.
Is there a workaround?Windows7 64bit.
Nothing appears in SQLServer2017 Configuration Manager
I'm having trouble connecting as(localdb) \ MSSQLLocalDBin SQL Server Management Studio.

Even if the instance is launched from the control panel to the service
I saw that the instance did not exist in the first place.

The bcrypt.dll file exists in both the system32 and SysWOW64 folders.
SQL Server 2017 Express does not support Windows7 in the first place, but only localdb is necessary
(I saw many articles that localdb of SQL Server 2016 can start
http://diy-kagu.hatenablog.com/entry/2017/08/09/155801 etc.)
That's why I tried it, but isn't it still ...?

Teach us.

There are people who have the same question on stackoverflow, but it seems that SQL Server Express 2017 requires Windows 8 or later (link below). Some people have tried the rough work of trying to raise the version of the DLL, but it is commented that the result was not good.

Error when start an instance of SQLLOCQLDB 2017 on windows 7 64bit (entry point not found except)
