Error in progress

jQuery is not familiar.

I just move my homepage to another server.
The jQury that has moved so far stops working,
When searching for the cause, the following error was displayed.
"Uncaught ReferenceError: $is not defined"

jQuery is used in the header image slider.

Since it worked normally on another server
I think that there is a mistake in the path or a description mistake.

Are there any passages that come to mind?
Please help those who can understand.

It seems that it is said that the variable $cannot be referenced because it fails to read jquery.
Is the extension missing on the second line?

    <script src = "/ js/jquery-1.12.3.min.js" charset = "utf-8"></script>

    The following is added.
Currently, the root path is specified, but the migration destination may be a directory other than root->root.
If it is Apache etc., the setting of DocumentRoot may be different.
If you can, please tell me the file with the description and the directory structure of HTML.

For reference, if there is a JS directory in the same directory as the HTML file,
Try changing to a relative path reference.

    <script src = "./ js/jquery-1.12.3.min.js" charset = "utf-8"></script>
<!-↓ The following script is the same. ->

    <script src ="/js/jquery-1.12.3.min"charset ="utf-8"></script>

    Isn't it

    "/js/jquery-1.12.3.min.js" ;?
Did you make a mistake in writing something?
Or, the corresponding file may have been moved or deleted.

In general, the error itself appears when the JQuery js file cannot be read.
If the source code is the same as when it was running on another server, please check if the path where the JQuery js file is located is correct.
