This is my first time trying to do this, so there are problems. To begin with, I, of course, read about dns, what it is and why. I bought DNS hosting at nic.ru, like the domain itself, of course. As mentioned in one tutorial, I added a record like "www CNAME example.herokudns.com". I waited a day, but nothing has changed. In another manual it was said that you need to make a record like "www CNAME mydomain.ru.", But, again, it didn't work out. Yes, I am still not very good at various types of DNS records, but please help at this stage. What am I doing wrong?

And what exactly "didn’t change" and what exactly "didn’t work", what are you trying to achieve? what would be opened and by what name? In general, in most cases you know the ip of your site and you create an 'A' record with this ip. If heroku does not tell you your ip but requires an alias, then of course you should write that they recommend

Heroku writes "incorrect DNS settings". By "did not change" and "did not work" I mean that the domain was not tied to heroku. That is, you cannot enter the site. The manual says to use the following entry: Record: "ALIAS or ANAME" Name: "empty or @" Target: "example.herokudns.com.". But nic.ru does not have a record like alias or aname. Also in nic.ru it is said that the DNS zone must contain at least two NS records, but the manual does not say anything about this.

Nic.ru gives you NS records if you use its DNS servers (and not just bought a domain without servers). And yes, alias means cname. But most importantly, under what name are you trying to get to your domain, under www.mydomain.ru or just mydomain.ru? because when you write www, you only get www.mydomain.ru. And what does "not work" look like, what exactly does the browser tell you if ping goes to your name. Or maybe you have a problem with the site itself and not with DNS

If you write mydomain.ru, then a page opens that the domain is served by ru-center, if www.mydomain.ru, then the page is unavailable. I figured out that alias= cname. But when I try to write "@" in the alias field or leave it blank, a warning appears that this symbol cannot be used. The manual tells you to do this ._.

Yes, if you edited the named configuration file, you would have to write @, but how to write it in the nic.ru interface, you probably need to find out from the nic.ru support
